I was the previous owner of that particular rifle, prior to the fellow on GB. The reinforcing screw had been removed and the edges of the hole appeared splintered, before being filled with what I suspect was wood putty. IIRC, the magazine was not original. The looong barrel was ponderous to engage targets with, making it easy to see why the Commonwealth went to the SMLE length.
