Absolutely not!

As with any second-hand firearm purchase, you will need to satisfy yourself that it is sound. If you lack the knowledge, simply get it checked by someone you trust, preferrably someone who knows double rifles.

A scan of the past threads here will quickly show that many of us, perhaps most, prefer the vintage stuff, made at a time when pride of workmanship was of far greater importance than a fiscal 'bottom line'.

...and here's my opinion of the short .577, if you haven't already seen it.
