Stopped at Bozeman on the way home from Ontario, a few years back. Went rock-chuck blasting with a friend I met at Jim Saubier's small bore forum.

Doug let me use his Rem 700, with a NacNor Tac .20 barrel, the rifle Smith'd by Greg Tannel. I fired off 64 rounds using 32gr. (the first 20cal made by Hornady were 32gr., the later ones 33gr.) at 4,200fps muzzle velocity. The first 3 chucks were to get used to the trigger and sights so he graciously "allowed" let me shoot at some close range - 210yards on the Leica - 1 head shot on the adult, 2 neck shots on the pups.

He then moved the truck9shooting off the hood - bipod with no rear bag and the shooting began in earnest, along a fence row & beyond. Doug wouldn't shoot for a while and ordered me to carry on when I asked about him shooting. The closest chucks were 404yards and the farthest were 440yards. I had to hold between 6" to 9" high and about 4" to 8" into the wind depending on the angle. It was pretty easy, actually, with the 6-24X scope. I missed 8 rock-chucks which needed a second shot to splatter. Oh well, maybe with more practise?

I guess I can be happy with 87.5% at those ranges.
