The double rifle is the rifle makers rifle. Prudey's self-opening, bar-action, ejector, top-lever is the ultimate conclusion of state the art. It's the "complication" of rifles.

If I could afford to have a double rifle made from scratch it would be a top-lever, hammer back-action, ultra round body 450 3.25" extractor with spare hammers, strikers and claw mounts right at 10 lbs.

This is a throw back to an earlier time, but exposed hammers are so handy.
