Beleg2,
Check around your area and find a good furnature maker and ask them what they use for a finish. It will surely be available locally. Then after using their finish, rub it out with fine steel wool and put on a coat of furnature wax to protect it and help keep it from warping. I would also wax inside the barrel channel and under the butt plate. Anywhere water can get into it. Good luck with you projects. Bob H.
