Much more of the latter than the former!

I picked up the rifle from the WR Agency several years ago after it had languished on their site for a while advertised as a "Belgian Snider". It certainly does have that set of Belgian proofs on the left breech end of the barrel, but the earlier set on the underside are 100% British. I made a cast of the chamber and had Dave at RMC turn some cases to fit with the wall thickness set to match the rather abrupt (can you say 'square'?) leade. It has the later model Snider 'fast' twist and it stabilises the 450 paper-patch bullets available from Russ at Montana Precision Swaging just fine.

That yearling bison was taken with Lee Hawes in SW Kansas in the fall of 2007. Lee runs a great outfit in period style and the hunting is all done on horseback and foot. I ended up with about a 100 yard broadside shot, putting the bullet just behind the large bones of the shoulder and driving through both lungs without hitting a rib either going in or coming out. The bison moved off a short way and stood with its head down for a moment, then collapsed in a pile. No second shot needed.

And tasty, too! So much so that I signed up for another one this fall, though I used a Lancaster single in .375 2-1/2" rather than the Snider this time.
