I have done a little bit of reloading for my 6.5x55. Actually last week I dropped it off at a gunsmith to have the heavy 2 stage military trigger replaced and also a new safety if he can find one. With a new trigger I will shoot it a lot more.

I have handloaded a few founds with it, some 100 gr Hornady HPs, plus some 120 gr Nosler BTs. The 100 grainers I have used to cull some deer, using broadside lungs shots or spine and brain shots. I also have a lot of 125 gr and 140 gr Nosler Partitions to try but haven't loaded any of these up yet.

Most of my shooting has been with the military FMJ ammo which I believe is for service competition shooting. This is very accurate and having probably 1000 rounds or more of it should keep me going for a while. I file (using an angle grinder - precision stuff) the tips of the FMJs off exposing the lead core. This makes an effective medium game killer (feral goats and pigs) though can be somewhat erratic in performance. The 6.5mm has enough punch to be effective enough on these lighter animals.
