Chasseur,
I don't have any personal experience with that unit.
I just googled it and they say that 7 miles is really the best that you can expect in ideal conditions where you are in unobstructed line of sight.
The review I was reading admitted that it is rare to have that type of ideal condition in real hunting situations with dogs.

I do have experience with one brand of tracking collar which I used a few years back.
It was capable of transmitting well over 7 miles in open country, and could even manage about 2 kilometers with the transmitting collar totally underwater.
It was very accurate at pinpointing the dogs exact position so long as you knew how to operate it for best results.

A GPS system like this Garmin Astro should be way better than the standard radio tracking collar system.

I'm interested in hearing peoples experiences with these units too!
