I am always iin awe of the stories of India and the past there. I have not been, but it is only time before I do. I am sure it is not near the land it was when you lived there. Much different in circumstances and people. It is very interesting to me that there are Webley inspired revolvers being produced today in India!! I have seen and once owned one of the No. I MkII actioned .308 (7.62 nato) rifles. I was mislead with mine, as someone had removed the Drill Purpose red stripes from the stock. I had to give it up.
My guns must be in shooting condition.
We have the distinct privilage of having "Indian" origin game animals in large numbers here in Texas. They run wild in hunting quantities and are encouraged on ranches for occasional hunting. Nilgi and "balckbuck". Fantastic animals. Brought here in the 1920's and released in the King ranch. They have multiplied and spread far beyond now in the South West.
Someday, I hope there will be controlled sport hunting again in India that I could participate in .
