IMO, the article was very well written, and for the most part rather senseable on the recomendations. I agree! The PH who can't handle a rifle bigger than a 375 H&H is in serious trouble, and has picked the wrong profession.

The author's recomendation for the rifle it's self was a little vague, other than his fine reccomendation for a synthetic stock. He never mentioned a couple of the most important things needed on a DGR, and that is, proper fit, and proper sighting equipment! He seems to not understand that a bolt action is not the only DGR to choose from, though that my be because he is talking, mainly, about a new PH just starting out, with a low bugit His best reccomendation was that of Ganyana's experience being one of the best guides to a proper built DGR, but no detail as to why. Maybe he should have gotten Ganyana to write the article!

He may be right, but I think he assumes too much, with his opinion, that the rank, and file poster on African forums on places like Nitro EX, and AR, are "ARMCHAIR" experts! He knows us no better than we know him, yet we are expected to take his words as gospel, while our's are only ARMCHAIR opinion.

It is true that the guy just starting out as a new licensed PH will have to be carefull about how much gun he can get for the price he is able to pay. That goes without saying, but with a little advice that isn't so vague,maybe from some of the ARMCHAIR experts, the new guy can, at least, know what to look for in a working used rifle he can afford! Still the article was a fine start, but IMO, wasn't finished!
