It might just be my getting older bad eyes, but I've held Nikon's side by side with Leupold's and I can't tell the difference in optical clarity, but I can when I look at the price tag. I own several of both Nikon's and Leupold's and these days I'll take the Nikon most ever time with the exception of heavy recoil (I've never had a Nikon on a hard hitter to see how it holds up),then I'd take the Leupold. But for the 270, 30-06 I'd go with the Nikon.
