found this pic's in the net, sometimes around 1930. what do you think about the rifles? the white hunter may have a german M 88 sporter and his native companion seems to have a M 95 dutch mannlicher with original miltary stock but i can be wrong:

the M 88 in 8x57 is a little bit on the ligth side but many M 88 for colony's get new barrels for 9x57.
the 6,5x53R have a fine reputation for big game including elefant's. find this M 95 sporter http://www.rathcoombe.net/sci-tech/ballistics/custom_rifles/classic_mannlicher.html
and the magazin looks like the rifle on the second pic.
