Hi all. I'm new here and have a burning desire to set myself up a 12 bore double for round balls. I am leaning towards the stoeger condor in either the uplander or coach gun. Is it hard to regulate for round balls. I have also thought about pinching my pennies for a while and getting a sabatti slug gun. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I have shot slugs from pump guns all my life, but have been bitten by the bug for a double.
DarylS is going to have to answer this one. For the life of me, I cannot get acceptable accuracy with round balls from a smooth-bore. Even tried shooting steel automotive CV-joint ball-bearings to avoid any deformation, still couldn't hold better than about 3 inches at 25 yds (from memory).
For me, it's base-wad slugs (read 'Brenneke') from the shottie, or a Paradox!

You will find plenty of information here in answer to your question. As Marrakai said, DarylS is the defacto guru on round balls in smooth bores. There are many threads that discuss this subject, and I suspect this thread will become another one.
