Catching up on posts, here is a mink I trapped a while back.

There are lots of them here and I plan to collect enough to make a neck scarf for myself. The hardest part of trapping them is battling huge amounts of snow which cover the traps.

Here's a view of snow along the brook with my 100 + pound American Bulldog.

I cannot negotiate the terraine with out snowshoes, there has been over 9 feet of snowfall already and there is still 8 more weeks of winter yet. The all time snow record will be broken this year for my area.

Here are couple of my trap set ups. I use only conibear type traps ( type seen on Ann's photos are illegal here ).
Bridge trap

Tunnel of death under the bridge

Same "copletely camouflaged"

Can we see your set up.

ps. Lousiest winter ever here. Mostly rain when needed snow

Nice set up Paatti.

I'll be buying some 110 conibears for next year too. What I did to catch this mink was note where it liked to cross over the top of my driveway and dug a snow tunnel. Once I saw it was using the tunnel I set the trap. It is a 1 1/2 coil spring and is good for fox, mink, fisher, etc.

I walked past the trap not 10 minutes when the mink stepped on it. They seem very active during the day, I caught it just after high noon.

They are a pest to my chickens so I trap as many as I can. I have traps down at the neighbors' as she has one in her barn. It has killed most of her rabbits and chickens already.

Global warming? Not around here. Second record snowfall winter in a row. Only 8 more weeks of it! I don't know how many I'll need, I figure at least four, maybe five.
