Hi,
This post is for 88MauSporter but I think some members can find this rifle interesting..
I sold this Carbine last year.
Some time ago I had a problem, I could not resist the temptation of rescuing any abused rifle I found. Later, I realize that this was a very costly way to buy guns and the resulted rifle never get as good as new.
I bought this Imman Meffert rifle some time ago to restore it but never finished the work, so I sold it.
This rifle was made specially for a gun store in Buenos Aires by Imman Meffert who had a very large gun making school in Germany. On the barrels you can read “Hecho para Pedro Worm” on one side and “Buenos Aires” on the other.
It was chambered for the 7,65x54 mm Mauser also known as 7,65 Argentine, military cartridge until 1960.
Serial number was 52025 and on visiting Pedro Worm Gun Shop some years ago, they have another Meffert rifle almost identical to this but without claw mounts. It was strange to find an almost identical rifle but what was incredible is that its serial number was 52025, 100 lower than mine. I don’t know how do you say in English a number that you can read the same both ways as serial numbers of those rifles.
Pictures are not very good but that is all I have.







Hope pistures are no too small.

Very nice. This is very similar to mine. Mine are in 8X57Mauser. I will Post a photo as well.
My other has no scope, but keeps the original extended magazine with doubel set triggers.
The scope arrangement you have is one I am trying to duplicate. I have only the bases.
Is the 7.63X54 still popular for sport in Argentina. I enjoy reloading and shooting this caliber in my 1891 carbine and Rifle and engineer carbine.

Glad you like it, sadly I sold it.
The scope was not correct for the rifle but the one was used on 1891 military rifles (Snipers?)
My hunting rifle is a 7,65x54mm made on an old 98 action (8x57mm) with double set trigger. I love double set triggers!
I have reload the 7,65 for years but now I use Hornady ammo.

Martin,

Very, very nice. It is amazing how these old guns turn up in different parts of the world - frankly, I would much rather hear their stories if they could talk instead of those of stamps and other things that people collect!

I never finished her restoring.
The stock was cracked everywhere. On the last picture, you can see two holes where previous owner put some hay wire to fix the broken grip.
Guns are much more interesting and unique.
This rifle represents a time when Argentina was a big country and many gunmakers made guns specially for us.
Now thats not the case unfortunatly.
