Ruger #1 in 450/400

Is anyone going to buy one of these if they come out? I might reload it with the 300gr'ers Hornady uses for the 405 Winny for deer and black bear.I'll try the 400gr's before I do that.Dave.

A great gun to shoot open sighted and learn to lead targets and shoot at distance with that chambering.

Best-it would be a great prep rifle for a 450/400 double!!

Hmm-maybe a 450/400 Merkel-any manufacturor listening out there? Anyone else think so?

The Ruger would be a fun way to practice open sighted without alot of wear on a 10K+ 450/400 rifle.

I don't know the release date of the Hornady ammo or the #1.I'll call them both after the the 1St or so.I hope Hornady doesn't want a arm and a nut for the ammo if the do I'll just get the 405 to play with.Dave.

I think Hornady will have a good price for the ammo. I just looked up some of their .416Rigby ammo, and it was $40 cheaper than Federal's.

Update: Hornady has informed me that the 450/400 ammo will be out by May. They don't know when Ruger will release the No.1 rifle, though.

It will be a sweet chambering for those who have double rifles in that caliber!!

I think the demand will be so-so among most riflemen and
betcha when they get it they will try to handload it an extra 150 fps to 2300 fps.

On the other hand it may create more demand for 450/400 Doubles!!

I see Heym have anounced that they will make doubles in .450/.400-3" to the Hornady standard now the long wait for Ruger and the No1.

I was talking to Acacia Imports today and they confirm that the .450/400 will leave the USA in the next few days and probably clear customs in 6 weeks or so, now I better chase up some ammo !
