Sighting in the Nitro Express !!!
      #63875 - 11/10/06 02:58 PM

When arriving in the Omay near Lake Kariba like is usual when first arriving on safari, one goes to check the sights are true to aim at a distance one is likely to be shooting at.

We selected a suitable Baobab tree for the target and then we tried the 9.3x74R, the PH's scoped .416 for if it was needed and then the .450 No. 2 Nitro Express .........

WOW!

True Nitro Express power !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't try this at home kids!

Of course, the 9.3X74R was fired first and did most of the damage! You know, weakened the tree so the other two could get through!

Expanding ammo?

No, solids of course. They make a bigger entry hole than calibre size too. This photo is 'proof'!

The real reason the greenie tree huggers dislike hunters ...

Never use a tree as a target when shooting Nitro Express!

I love watching timber fall down after hanging a clay pigeon on it!

We once had a few shots at a tree in Northern WA in the Kymberleys and then had some lunch. Maybe 20 minutes after shooting, we heard this creaking crack and sudden crack-bang as the tree we had shot fell down.
