Taxidermist in Melbourne or Sydney- Quarantine reg
      #53793 - 01/04/06 04:51 PM

I may want to try a new taxidermist next time I need one. I like just to use one taxidermist for everything unless I want to change. They would need to be quarantine registered so as to take deliveries from Africa. The most important thing for me is their work has to LOOK RIGHT. Eg no thin necks, short necks, funny spines, facial features etc. It has to look 100% not 98%.

Prefer Melbourne to Sydney but either might be OK. Melb is easier to drive over to if necessary from Adelaide.

Any suggestions and personal recommendations? What have you put through your recommendation yourself?

Prob Gary Pegg does more African stuff than most here,OTTO Ruff is another...many Taxid`s dont touch African stuff John as they dont get much here at all but plenty of deer which most "specialise" in,and many are not the specialists they think they are.

Both of the above are in Melbourne, and both are Aquis fellas too i believe.

I'm also fussy about mounts and Taxidermists, many finished mounts don't look right, noses look false, face looks puffy. I've seen a lot of mounts in Tasmania, but none stack up against the quality of Ricky Fahey's work.
