Is the tikka/valmet finnlight, combo, double rifles now out of production ? I thought they were still being made in Italy ,being such a good idea you would think they would stay in production Does anyone know where you can still get them ?

Marocchi is now the sole owner of the Valmet/Tikka pattern 412/512 firearms. Try their web site and ask them. I just did and am anxious to find out, also.
What are you looking for? I may have it...

My ideal setup would be a 512 with 9.3 and 3006 o/u barrels a set of shotgun barrels, and a shotgun combo 222 barrel. The trouble with importing a firearm from the USA is it adds a extra $1000.00 AUS, or more to the original cost of the gun .Iam not sure about what it would cost from Europe .It would be a pity if they do stop making them, and i cant see why they would, what other combo gun is as versatile as this ?

I have the 9,3 set, but want to keep it for now. I plan on using it one more time in Tanz next year, along with its companion 12/9,3 set. I would sell a 30-06 set, 12 ga 30" set and a 12/223 set at this time. The 9,3 will go after next year's safari, as that will be my last time over. I'll keep the Valmet SST receiver, but will probably sell the Tikka DT receiver after the safari.

This is TRi Star's Website They seem to have almost the entire Valmet line and they are located in Missouri. They have dealers and also claim to be able to order from them direct. Looks like a good find.

What genius decided to limit the DR barrels to 30-06 and 308??? That is like having to decide between sea salt and mined salt...both are salt!
And they wonder why their ventures fail...cheeeeezzzz!

UPDATE...
I just received an email from Tri-Star. They will discontinue importation of the Valmet type firearms at the end of September. If you need something from them, better buy it soon!

I called Tri-Star a few minutes ago to see if I could get my hands on the left handed stock they were showing online. I figured that would be a great add on to my gun. They said that almost all the Valmet stuff is gone. They didn't have my lefty stock either. Oh well. It seems to me the Valmet system is a great rifle, shotgun setup. I can't imagine why it would get dumped.

Foxfire,
I'm glad we got ours when we did..."When men were men, and ships were made of steel". I love the Valmet system of barrels, and the scope mounting system is even better.
Remember that I also have that 20 gauge engraved Valmet. I think we need to visit the pheasant fields soon.
Now I'm thinking I might want to bring the double rifle instead of the bow to down a Boar. I already took down that nice Boar with the bow. We will see...sooon!
Well I'm the new guy on this site...for today!

I'm glad to find you found us! I use my Valmet and Tikka systems in Africa and in NW Montana. I am a combo gun fanatic and have been since age 12...46 years ago...
I have to admit that I covet your 20ga set.

Have your stock oil bent. It doesn't cost all that much and works just fine. The palm swell is a bit of a problem, but I would have it eliminated and the wrist re-ckeckered. I never have cared for the clubby feeling of the Valmet palm swell.
I'll keep my eye out for a LH stock.

Luv2safari; I really enjoy my 412S, as a double shotgun it shoots really well. I love it on the trap range. I don't know if I would go to the trouble to have a stock bent and recheckered. But if I came across a lefty stock I'd grab it in a minute. I have the 9.3x74R barrels for it and enjoy shooting it a lot. If you ever come across one keep me in mind. "Powhatan 42" is a a friend of mine. He has an awesome collection of the Valmet series. I believe most of the rifle barrels as well as the 12 and 20 gauge shotguns. A few different stock designs. A real treat for the Valmet enthusiast.

Thanks guys!
Luv2 safari:
I visited the site several times last year, but I had some difficulty logging on. I love the site, and I am glad to be a member.
I own two Valmets a 20 gauge and a 12 gauge with multiple barrel sets and stocks. I could have saved alot of money if I used these guns to their full potential. It is a well made product whose potential was never realized in the american market. "Foxfire" and I, purchased the guns back in the '80's. We knew then it was a sleeper!
I was on a hunt in Nixon Montana last October for mule deer and elk. Nice country lots of sign, fresh snow every day, but No tag was filled! (three hunters in my party, 2 on one,and one on one) I took two 7mm STW Ruger #1s on the hunt.
Nitox:
Thanks for the welcome, I trust I can contribute to the site!
