Hello All,
Just purchased this 404J from a member on a different forum. It is exactly what I was looking for to replace the four 404s that I sold last Fall to raise money to buy the hunting land that I had been leasing for the last 49 years. I still had lots of ammo and dies and really missed not having a 404 in my Bib Bore collection. This one is great because it has proven African hunting experience. A very nice bull elephant taken with the rifle - it was also used to take a dozen Buffalo. Really cool with "fish-scale" checkering and ebony forend and grip cap.

Great rifle & cartridge Buckstix! I can get a honest 2300fps with 400gn pills easy out of mine - & it can go a lot faster if you want!

Hello all, Thanks for the reply.
Here's a range test result from this afternoon. I'm very happy.

Hello All, Thanks for the reply.
I added a Nikon 1.5-6x42 Monarch E scope - gives more eye relief ....
I love the fish scale checkering - this is the first gun I've owned with this style checkering.

I had a shoot with a Parker Hale M98 .404 Jeffery factory rifle not long ago. After a long time before.

I'd be happy with accuracy like that from a 308win let alone a 404.

Track that one down John, don't let it get away. I read somewhere that those were generally used as PH guns - just wish I could remember where! They were very sought after because they worked well & have NO issues.

It's owned by a BGRC local club member. Yes I would buy it yesterday. I hope I took a pic. If I did will not hyjack this thread and will start a new one.
I do have my .404 in Mauser M03 but a M98 would be excellent. Came across one many decades ago in a Parker Hale but alas was not mine. What an excellent chamberingbpH choose.
