So it would seem. In fact, however, per usinflationcalculator.com that $1080 USD for the top drawer Rigby in 1939 would be $19,579 in today's dollars. A brand new 1939 Ford Deluxe Coupe was $700 in the U.S.. The $235 Jeffery #1 bolt action .375 would equate to $4,260.25 today.

Kynoch ammunition came very dear then, as well. That $25 to $45 in depression era dollars per box would be today's $453.22 to $815.79. Elsewhere in the catalog, a brand new Colt SAA can be had for $37.50 and $45 would get you a Match 1911. One box of ten Kynoch .600 Nitro Express cost as much as a brand new match Colt 1911.

What's amazing is the exchange rate between the pound and the dollar then. Back then it took 7.25 dollars to equal a pound, today it 1.31 dollars to buy a pound.
