I've been looking all over for a nice medium-bore double either 9.3x74R or 375 H&H etc.
It will be used mostly for a "fun-gun" with perhaps a trip for boar on a driven hunt. Prefer a single-trigger (I know everyone says get double triggers but I want a single-trigger if possible) and it can't be too heavy or have barrels that are too long...ideally a max of around 8 to 8 1/2 pounds and barrels 24" or so. Max price $8-$10K but I'm as cheap as anyone so would like a bargain.
I've been cruising the internet without a lot of luck, calling dealers etc but summers coming and I need a project. Anyone seen anything they can't use?

Try this link and search double rifles. He seems to list a lot of doubles. There were 9.3x74R's and 375 H&H's.

Not sure about USA prices but it should be quite easy to get a new 9.3x74mmR for less than that. In a Merkel and maybe a Chapuis. A 9.3mm should be quite a bit cheaper than a big bore say in .470.
If you go for a Tikka or Valmet, around $1600 or a bit more. That's what mine just cost. It will do until something else suitable appears.

DBBill Take a hard look at the Chapuis 9,4x74R. I have had one for about 7 years. It is scoped and I have taken quite a bit of game with it in TX, Idaho, Canada, and Africa. It weighs 7 1/4 lbs without scope. Do a search on my previous posts here and on AR. The Chapuis is my favorite rifle under 40 calibre.
I would recommend you get one with two triggers. After you use the 9,3 double, you WILL want a large bore double for sure.

The Chapuis link I posted above shows a 9.3X74R SxS for $5875.00 and a good looking rifle at that.

foxxy,
Did you have a gander at the price tag? It says $5,195.00! I talked with the seller a while back; he says it was an old photo of a prior gun, so better pin him down. In any case, he sounds a bit deceptive.

I know the guy, but have never bought from him.
He's selling with small margins, and his price fluctuation reflects the volitiliy of the dollar currently.
