Montana Mtn. Lion this past weekend
      #258680 - 06/01/15 10:37 AM

Friend of mine got this the past weekend here in MT. Nice kitty..
here is his story..

This is a cat hunt we were on this weekend, and the hunter is not in the is photo.

He was so dehydrated from this climb after this cat; he darn near was not able to shoot the cat; he was so sick. We tried to hydrate him slowly but he kept throwing up the water, Gatorade, hammer gel, food. We were so far in; we were really worried about this fellow to get him out. One of the guys took care of getting him out, and we worked on getting the cat out. We started at 5:30 am, and got back to the truck at 6:40 pm. We were BEAT!!!!!
Could barely move when we got home.
Nice cat; 150-160. We treed a female; before getting sorted out on this guys track, and letting the dogs go the second time.

Congratulations.

Very nice cat. I have seen tracks of Mt Lion or cougar in Texas but unfortunately never had a chance to shoot one.

Are you using bluetick coonhounds to hunt moutain lions?

Would have liked to have that hunted cats with dogs, now - not a chance, too broken up.

What are the average costs to hunt a mountain lion? I want to some day with a colt lightning in .50-95 (need the gun, also!)

Nice cat.

Waidmannsheil to the team on a great cat.

One day will hunt a cat of some sort, above the tiny striped bush tigercat of the Aussie bush.

Not really sure of the costs anymore--most here that are locals have friends who hunt them and they just go and get a cat. The dog guys love to give chase and many are more than happy to take a buddy along to make a kill should it be a tom..as most let the females go..

Will check it out see what i find..back when I got mine people were charging around 3-4K if I remember correctly..but again, I just went with a friend..

Looks like a memorable day.

Nothing like a hunt over hounds.
Great looking cat!

I dare say these are the funniest animals to hunt in aus and extremely satisfying. Missed out on one with the .450 as it snuck into some logs and I couldn't find it

Congratulations

That's a huge cat, a splendid trophy.

I too want to hunt a mtn lion, but You confirm that one needs a perfect physical condition, especially in snow time.
Yet, I am not up to this task
Quite an achievement.

The repro .50/95 M1876, for me - what a beautiful rifle - my Bro has one in .45/60.

The large Lightening would also be OK- HA!

Needing $1,800 for that rifle in a Pedersoli, I think they are, up here.

That's Taylor's M1876 in .45/60. He now has $800.00 worth of aperture sights on it. LOL.

I would love to have one in .50/95, based on the .348 Winchester case. That one is easier to get and form.

That would/could be my hunting rifle, for everything that I hunt.

Shooting field rats is shooting, not hunting - .17's for that.

Saw a black panther the other day at close range hiding ready to spring in a big thorn bush. I can tell you I backed out of there quickly but carefully in order not to provoke a charge ... maybe I need to start carrying a small bore double rifle around on the farm to avoid being a maneater victim ...
