Hello the camp.

Came across this for good price.
Figured it was worth playing with.

How well did the Lanber double 12 bore shoot? You have shown many brands of slug ammo, is there one brand that performed the best.

Would like to know the results.

Nitro450exp;

If you want to try some handloads, I can send you some pure lead .753 RB to try if you would like to try them and they are a size that you can use.

Going to work just fine, however In looking at the tool marks in those barrels common on modern rifled shotguns, I think I'd do one of two things. I'd get a mould casting a slug and fire about 50 fire lapping rounds through it - or - lead lap it with similar compounds.
You can bring up several fire lapping 'kits' and/or instructions if needed. Pure lead bullets are used.

I've done this myself with several rifles and came away a VERY happy camper - every single time.

The fire lapping and/or lead lapping will remove or smooth the crosswise reamer marks to lengthwise with the barrel and eliminate or reduce immensely the fouling you'll get, otherwise.

Just a suggestion.

Try some handloads using the Lyman hourglass shaped slugs. I load mine in Winchester AA hulls and AA wads, then just star crimp them. I use Universal Clays powder, enough to get them up to about 1300 feet per second. They kill like the deer were hit in the head with a sledgehammer. Bob

Since pics were taken I have chamfered the muzzles
And hand filed them to clean up burrs
I have not tested any ammo yet the northern US has been too cold for this African boy.

I will definitely look intp lapping the tool marks
Was going to stick to sabot ammo to avoid the leading issues

All the ammo purchased to date is 3" sabot ammo 8 types.

It will be a while till I get back to my hobbies I am assigned abroad.

Nitro the reason I asked is that gun will be ideal for hunting the dense woods in the UP.

I was hoping you had shot the gun and had a idea on how it groups the slugs. It seems CDNN has a few more in stock, thinking about getting one.

Ddupleks slugs are very accurate and performance is superb.

I would firelap those barrels with compound and pure leadslugs to polish out those toolmarks.

Sorry for the thread necromancy. I found one for sale it is a selective trigger for $379.00. I would prefer a double trigger however it seems no more are being produced. So it could be my only chance to get one. Does anyone know of any issues with the selective single trigger?

I have a 30-06 and a 45-70 side by side rifle by Baikal. I also modified a 12 gauge side by side into a slug gun. My problem has always been champagne and caviar tastes on a generic diet coke and fritos budget.
