The CZ 550 FS has a 20.5" hammer forged barrel, 9.5" twist, with a reamer cut chamber. It is longer than a carbine, shorter than many rifles, perfect for the gun's 9.3x62mm Mauser cartridge, where appropriate powder selection will result in a 99% burn. Consider the CZ 550 barrel is a half inch longer than the barrel Ruger selected for its Alaskan model, where the 375 Ruger cartridge has a capacity 30 grains greater than the 9.3x62mm. The FS is compact at 40 1/2" overall, or approximately 6" shorter than my CZ 550 Safari. At 7 1/2 lbs the FS is also about 1 3/4 lbs lighter.

IMO the only mistake in those CZ rifles is butt stock design; it´s not a real bavarian "boars spine" nor a classic Monte Carlo but something between them....

Is that FS going to create an issue in accuracy once the shots start being fired??

My experience, albeit limited with this, is they can be finicky..

Nice looking firearm though..and would be a great little gun in the bush..

I really like the Full Stock version and 9.3 is a great round for all but the biggest of angry creatures. Obviously I can speak to all full stocked rifles but its been my experience that the issue with accuracy problems is more myth and range induced than practical. Its a HUNTING not a RANGE rifle.

CZ 550 controlled feed rifles are quite good ;not as good as the ZKK Brno's that proceeded them but still a good rifle .I was sad to see CZ came out with a push feed rifle ;which got scathing replies on the CZ Facebook page .Lets hope they get the message and don't go down that same road Winchester did in '64 with the Model 70

The buttstock imo is great. On my CZ452fs the stock works equally well with either irons or scope.
Accuracy of this full stock rifle does not seem to be affected because of the full length wood.

That is good to know--back several years ago Ruger offered a fls rifle..I purchased one in .270 caliber...shot horribly..tried a little bedding work and it got better but still not that great..ended up trading it for a Rem in .270..was a good trade as that one will shoot 1/2" groups all day long..BUT, I preferred the looks of the Ruger much more..

It´s a skill to do full lenght stock so that barrels is free floating i.e. enable the accurate shooting.

I think the stock looks OK. But then I hate and would not own an traditional Bavarian and dislike a classic monte carlo.

Guess that is one reason for their composite design perhaps?

I had one a few years ago. Sold it when I got a Ruger Hawkeye in 375 Ruger and had MPI but a fiiberasss mannlicher stock on it. Anyways the FS 9.3 shot really well. A 4x Leupold M8 and it did 3/4 groups with 286 Hornady spitzers. I egret selling that one.

Each to his own. I'll add that. It certainly would be fast in the bush - almost as good as an 18" to 20" bl. on a .45 Colt New M92, driving a 300gr.HP at 1,600fps.

The problem IMO with the CZ FS rifles is they are dead heavy and handle like a tamping rod with a brick tied to the end of it. Just my personal tastes but such a Stutzen should be light and handy. The 6.5 of mine became a 9.3 to lighten the barrel {and because the 6.5 in a CZ is poorly designed and doesn't feed correctly, see posts above; extractor poorly designed and magazine as well} but even with the bigger hole the gun was left too heavy. On I went with hoof rasp and hack saw and little by little the thing morphed into a superbly handy light carbine. Took a number of attempts, but it worked and now at 16" the thing still runs a 285 grain bullet faster than my 24" 9.3x57's did and handles darn near like a pistol. It's my bear gun and makes keeping up with the hounds as realistic as it can be.

It is the reason why I sold my 9.3x57's, tho I must say, a Husqvarna M46 with barrel chopped to 16 and with a little peeled off the stock would make a really sweet handling and very lightweight rifle, somewhere just at 6 lbs or maybe even a tad lighter.

here's a couple of mine
Nutmeg boyd's is 9.3x62 CZ 550 medium lux and the royal jacaranda is a formerly CZ550 full stock in 30-06. I run partitions in both shoved by RL 17

If anyone is wondering the Boyds prarie hunter for the BRNO 600 is what I used on both, 5 minutes of dremel work in order to clear the safety lets them drop right in. I did however use Terminal ballistic research bedding kits and fore and aft bedded both rifles for rock solid and stress free bedding of both rifles.
Reloader 17 gets me 2550 easily without any pressure signs with the 286 partition in the X62 with its .405 BC its a 300+ yard rifle with lots of downrange energy.
The same powder shoves a 200 grain partition in the 30-06 to 2600+ with its 20" tube again with no pressure signs and again gives it a 300 yd + useable range in a handy package.

2,550fps is very good. My 22" bl. gets 2,519fps with 286gr. Norma plastic tips using BLC2.

Reloader #17 is the powder Ed Huble found works so well in the large bores on shotshell hulls due to it's ease of ignition. It should be a good one is ctgs. it is efficient in.
