This rifle is described as having "Gew 98" action, but it looks very much commercial magnum mauser SSB to me. Am I mistaken?

Yes, single square bridge action is very "uncommon" in Gew 98....

Definitely a commercial square bridge but I have a hard time (still) in telling if it is a magnum length or standard length action.
I am leaning toward this being a standard length action just by the amount of wall the thumb cut takes up. It is difficult to tell with no crossbolt visible.
Would be a great rifle in the estimate range.

According to Jon Speed´s book this is later version of Jeffery`s .333 rifle with magnum action. Four-round magazine box with push-button floorplate is good attribute.
