Rare to see a custom M-54 winchester. Something different from the normal tarted up American "Varmint" rifle look.

i noticed that one but i don't realy care for the metal finish or the fore end tip.
i have a 54 in 30-06 and i've been on the look out for another one for a 400 whelen project but i havent found a suitable donor for the right price yet.

Dang - Cliff Hunter (Hunter's Sporting Goods) had a stock, but re-blued M54 Winch. in the store in Vancouver back in 75 that was chambered for .30/30. Would like to have THAT one today. IIRC it had a slanted mag. insert to keep the rims loading correctly.

I knew a guy who had one in 7.65 argentine and sold it dirt cheap about 25 years ago because he couldn't afford ammo for it

I agree DirtyJim.

Part of my Honeymoon (in 1988) took place in Banff, Banff International. One morning while wacthing the Elk feed on the lawn I notice a "guard" of sorts. I talked with him and he told me he was a maintance/jack-of-all-trades for the Motel and every morning he was asked to spend a hour or so out near the lawn, but descreet, to ward off any potential Elk "trouble". Being so very American, I asked him what he was armed with, the next day he showed me his rifle on the dash of his Golf-type cart. It was a haggered M-54 carbine in 9x57mauser. In my pre-computer days I had pictures of it.

I have only owned one, in the predictable .30 Gov't of 1906, as stamped on the barrel.
