The friendly folks at baggage handling recently broke my stock during shipping my rifle from South Africa to New Zealand. Lets not dwell on that...

It gave me an opportunity to get a new stock project on the go.
Blank from Vardy, thanks Roger!:

and after a few months in the hands of Kevin Gaskill.

and a close-up:

I'm very happy, just have to get out and see how she shoots with the new furniture.
Regards H

Drop-dead gorgeous, that is!
So, those baggage handlers can break a rifle even if it's in a hard case?

Hi HendrikNZ,
As Ben mentioned, did they manage to break the stock in a 'Hard Case' if so, what brand was it?? but all that aside, as they say "There's an opportunity in every problem" so I guess that it was true once again, Looks great, a typical Rodger Vardy blank.
Cheers,
Jeff Gray

Nice work.
Can you give us some details about the stockmaker - Kevin Gaskill?

Kevin is based out of Raglan, West coast of the North island and he is an excellent stock maker. He is locally known as "The Stock doctor" :-)
Here are a few more pics of the rifle:

My favourite bit of detail:

He fitted Sauer style sling swivels, which leaves the stock relatively clean when the sling is removed
