Gents ,
I have recently acquired a .577 Snider caliber Howdah pistol retailed by Pemberton . It has 7 3/4 inch barrels , overall length of just under 14 inches and grip height of 6 inches . I would like to find a wooden case that would fit the pistol . See link http://s854.photobucket.com/albums/ab101/radinej/Howdah%20Pistol/
I believe this was probably manufactured by W&C Scott based on the thumb lever . Thanks , Jim

You lucky man. A nice purchase.
Sorry can't help you on the small case, but I'm sure it can be done at a price.
Damascus (twist weld ?) barrels on the Howdah too.

Thanks folks ,
It does have a beautiful damascus twist , I suspect the pistol was manufactured in the 1870's based on the non-rebounding hammers and the style of hammer . Does shoot well , but it is certainly a point-blank weapon . It would be nice to find an original case not necessarily maker specific , for the pistol . Jim

Just give it a try at a 100 yd target such as a bowling pin.. It might surprise you. The one I shot came within 3' with the right barrel and 25' away with the left.
Pretty close!

Lets see you top that!

I too have one, a H&H .577. I have stopped looking for a case and decide that I would build one. I bought books on building jewelry boxes and will be drawing up my design from pictures (like in this post). I am slowly collecting all the bits to put in the compartments. I may even try my hand at some tiger hunting scrimshaw on some yellowed imitation ivory to inlet into the lid.
They just don't make pocket pistoles like they used to.
