Good grief Charlie Brown! I remember a copy of a WR cattledog stating that due to the more intricate processes in constructing a smallbore Double (especially 25 Savage and 22HP) that a higher price prevailed.

Still holds true!

Hold fast Bailey, your smallbores are much appreciated!

Gentlemen, thank you. I was very fortunate to land this little double, I also have a 22HP but its built on a slightly larger droplock frame than this one. The action on this 300 model is so petite my daughter can wrap her entire hand around it.

And with a single trigger to boot. My little doubles are built on .410 sized frames, and I wouldn't even consider going smaller.

You are indeed fortunate with this one General.

No problem Mike gives me a reason to try my new Nikon

The 300 Sherwood calibre was built for Buck, Fallow Deer, and Roe and developed as a proprietary cartridge by Westley Richards in 1901. Its a very light calibre, I reckon to be used for target shooting and light medium game at the time. It was designed to shoot both solid lead, and the amazing LT capped bullets. Ballistics are 1400 FPS and 610 joule. Weight of the gun is a mere 7 lbs.

Here is the picture you requested, as using a US quarter to view scaling.

Dammit, I don´t know the size of a quarter though I have an idea Put it alongside one of your "standard" Westley 470´s so I can get a better idea, best,
Mike

That is okay for those who are familiar with the US quarter.

This is a beautiful little rifle and a few more pic's from your Nikon would be apreciated, especially with a 300 cartridge ( I have checked it out in COTW ) and with a more recognisable comparison to those of us who are in the rest of the world.

Generalwar, I think you should be banned from this site for inflicting a severe state of envy on your fellow members. What a beautiful gun and in that old cartridge too. Is that a barrel selector showing above the trigger in the 4th photo?

A quarter is approximately 1" in diameter.

A quarter is roughly the size of a euro, IIRC.

What a gun!!
Maybe I need to place my Manton next to your Westley. Might restore some of the case colors in the action - at least the greens might come back...
I love small bore doubles when they are scaled properly.
I have a Webley '02 in 300 Sherwood but unfortunately the bore is shizzit.
Bet this one was the perfect blackbuck rifle. Great for the running second shot.

Hi GWar,

I am very well thank you. How are things on your end, I’ve been a bit busy with work lately.
The rifle is a stunner. Maharajah Bhupinder singh did have a thing for WR’s.
