Experience with RWS ID Classic Ammunition?

Maybe this is the wrong place to post this, but I didn't see anywhere better.

I'm looking at the RWS ID Classic ammunition for my recently-acquired .280 Remington. This is a unique looking round and I can't find any information on it beyond what RWS says on their website. I probably wouldn't even consider this ammunition but I think the 162-grain weight will be a better "all-'rounder" in the 280 than 140-grain or 150-grain loads.

Anyone used ID Classic, in any caliber?

Haven't used it, but seen it many times - BTW some history (for fun if nothing else

).

Bullet is a brainchild of Mr. Brenneke. Here is a predecessor from 1905!:

TIG (ID classic) followed in 1917 - so it is over 90 year old design - still first choice for many here in EU. I have a couple pics of recovered TIG's:

I use the 162grn "TIG" or now called the "ID Classic" from my 7x64 and find it great on game up to wild boar and red deer which would be similar to your Whitetail, Mule Deer and Prong Horn Antelope but smaller than the Wapiti.

Thanks guys. I like the fact that there is some experience using these specific (162-grain 7mm) projectiles on pigs...we hunt those a lot around here.

I have the chance to pick up a case of these up for about $1/round. The 280 rifle was purchased for my oldest son, currently shooting a 7mm-08, and it may be awhile before it sees much use. But the ammunition isn't going to get any cheaper.

the biggest obstacle of RWS factory ammo here is the price - box of 20 7x64 loaded with TIG's costs app. 70€ - if guys around here would get those for 1$/round I guess they would all be using those...yes 162gr traveling at 2700-2800fps should do flawlessly.

I was recently given a few of the 162gn TIG Torpedo and some 173gn H Mantel. Wonderfull looking bullets but too few to do a test and still have some for a hunt so they will have to remain a curiosity on my bullet shelf.
