500 Grains,

I met Dr Dale Schuerman (he is a retired MD) at the NRA Convention in Milwaukee some years ago and spent more than a little time chatting with him at his stall. He patiently explained the design of his rifle, of the flip up sights which he had just designed at the time and were pending approval of his patent application, and his overall design philosophy. I tried his rifles and the bolts were amazingly smooth - smoother than a Sauer 90 or Mannlicher Schonauer in my experience.

I should write to him and invite him to post here. Let me do it and invite his response.

Very interesting action. Sights on the DG gun are interesting. I can't say I like them, but they are very interesting.

Action, different story. I like this one. Not sure why, but it looks functional and though most "new" bolt guns seem totally gimmicky, this one look neat and tidy and maybe, just maybe, practical.

It looks like a blend between the Sauer 90 and the Mauser M03. It doesn't look easy to load quickly from the top, however. That may be a concern depending on the hunting situation.

Thanks for your kind words. Yes, we do make a left hander. If you get a chance take a look at our website www.schuermanarms.com, there is a picture of a left handed rifle we recently shipped. Also, I saw a question about the ability to load from the top, there is plenty of room for the thumb in the loading port. In fact, our blind box magazine option can only be loaded that way.

Hi,

Just saw this thread...

I was wondering how the ejector works?

It looks to be in the place where one would have the cut out for a fixed blade ejector.

At first I though it might be a plunger type, but it is flush with the bolt face and does not poke out like a plunger style does.

I was wondering about the recoil lugs on the bolt. Do they swing in and out?

You ask good questions. The ejector is spring loaded to be held to the rear, flush with the bolt face. When the the bolt is pulled all the way to the rear the bolt stop contacts the ejector pushing it forward ejecting the cartridge. This gives the operator control over the ejection force, "controlled ejection". I am not aware of any other design that does it this way. The locking lugs pivot at the front end and when retracted are flush with the outer surface of the bolt.

Yes, very interesting rifle!

Are the bolt handles welded on or an integral part of the bolt body?

Or, are they interchangeable?

Does the trigger blade in the one pic operate as a Savage 110 Accutrigger-type safety?

So far we have not produced one with a wood stock but hope to do so. The bolt handle is integral with a part we call the bolt handle collar and is not welded on. The bolt handles are not interchangeable. The trigger center safety lever does look similar to the Savage trigger but internally is a completely different design.
