Oh man, congrats and look forward to your report. I am sure it is tough to get Africa out of your system. I can certainly empathize as I am preparing to book my second safari and I haven't even been on my first one yet (later this year).

Congratulations.

To post photos, upload them to an internet site, photo hosting site (eg photobucket) etc.

Use the code IMAGE and /IMAGE on either side of the PHOTO location eg

Code:

It is very easy and simple once you get the hang of it.

The photos should not be too large so they fit on a monitor screen. They may need to be edited and decreased in size. Most cameras have free s/w to do this or it can be found on the net.

MKresinske, congrats on the successful hunt! What a beautiful gemsbok! I have a couple of questions for you. You say that you shot your gemsbok at 250 yards with your 375 H&H. Was that the only gun that you took with you or did you take anything else (like a 30-06). If you only brought your 375, what other animals did you hunt?

I am booked to go on my safari in September and at the moment I am planning on taking only my 30-06, but perhaps I should move up to something with a bit more punch like my 375.

Great photos of game and people. Good to see you could take your family. I told my wife and one daughter they could come to Moz in Sept if they agreed to carry a rifle, but they knocked me back. I expect the mornings are less frosty there.

The 375 H&H was the only gun I took. IMHO it is a great hunt anything gun with very good over the counter bullet selection. I saw for myself how tough even the smallest of game are in Africa. The 375 dropped all of the animals where they stood. That is more a testimony of the round than my marksmanship. The 30/06 is a tried and true round. When we had a face to face encounter with 2 Bull Buffalo, even though nothing happened, I was thankful I had the 375 in my hand. Nice security Blanket.

88MauSporter sums it up best

"A hunter should not use a rifle that will kill an animal when everthing goes right; you should use one that will do the job when everything goes wrong."

If I were hunting the big stuff (Ele,Buffalo,Rhino,Hippo), I may consider the 416 Rem or Rigby, but for the cats and all other game, the 375 H&H really impressed me.

I am going to give this some serious thought - I just may end up bringing my 375 H&H instead of the 30-06.

Since I bought my 375 H&H, I have not shot another gun. whitetail, pronghorn, elk and now the plains game have all been harvested. I gave my 30/06 to my daughter for a deer rifle. The 06 is a great rifle. I just happen to like the 375. It is accurate and delivers a very heavy bullet with authority to 300 yards.

You can't go wrong taking either. It comes down to what you like to shoot.
