Would any of you gents be able to provide a picture of a front sight on an Alex Henry falling block rifle? My Wesson/Henry is coming along nicely but I need to make sight bases soon. the books have great pictures of rear sights, not any good ones of front sights. Thanks. Steve

Hello Steve, I have seen quite a few in back issues of DGJ. You say Wesson/Henry ???? Is this a Earle/Wesson action ???? We may need to see pictures.

Yes its a Steve Earle action that has undergone mucho changes. I don't like showing her off in her pink dress......pink bondo on my pattern stock. There are some pics posted, but none in its current state. I'll see what I can do. Thanks for the tip too. We sometimes forget what is right in front of us. Steve

The front sight on the 450 that I had was rectangular shape that appeared very similar to the rear base. It had a melted to the barrel appearance. I will look to see if I took any photos of it. I have about every thing else on the rifle photographed. The bead or actual sight that was on the front base consisted of a bead that sat right down on the base. It looked to have had a round insert at some time but that was gone just leaving a round hole which I filled with an ivory bead about 1/16 inch in dia. With a bead this low on the base, it was just a little difficult to pick up when in a hurry. I have no reason to believe this sight was not original to the gun.

Mine appears to be integral and of the same description given. It has a very fine tapered platinum? bead low to the base.
