USA MacNab Invitation...

Anyone wish to join in on a US version of a MacNab, done with a drilling or other combination gun? I can bring a couple of loaners, if you need one to join in.

It will take place near Abilene TX May 6,7,8. The fur is bore; feather is Rio Grande turkey, and the fin is bass...catch & release; you can keep several big catfish. There are also exotics and predators available.

THANKS for your interest!

We had been talking about this over on AR for a while, but it didn't work out for most concerned regarding a spring get-together.

It would be GREAT to have some hunters from GB and Europe over here for the event. With 10 hunters, the whole ranch would be ours, and we would have a Big Texas BBQ the last afternoon.

It appears that most of the interested are more interested in a fall event, so we have the needed time to put together something and firm up reservations.

Dos Plumas wants to please us and have this as an annual event...maybe twice a year...Spring and Fall.

We could have combo rifle and shotgun competitions, also.

It would make for a fun "You show me yours, and I'll show you mine" (GUNS! ) event.

I figure it would be a blast but as a victim of wife abuse I'm stuck in WV

Would anyone care to offer a definition of a MacNab? It's not a term I'm familiar with at all. As far as drillings are concerned, I might be able to dredge one or two up from the gun room.

In Scotland it MacNab is achieved when the sportsman takes a red stag, a brace of grouse, and catches a salmon all within a 24 hour period.

We were a bit less ambitious, however. Our Fur, Feather, Fin were to be a bore, a Rio Grand turkey, and a bass.

I had a ranch there that had that, plus deer and exotics available. There are also coyotes and bobcats. In the fall quail would be in season.

They have an $850.00 special turkey hunt for two birds, two hogs, and bass fishing and in addition three nights lodging in the bunkhouse and meals. A third turkey was $150.00 extra and added hogs were @ $100.00. The bass were catch & release, but they allowed keeping three catfish; we would have a fish-fry one evening and a Big Texas BBQ the last...

They also have clays courses for friendly competitions.

I'm making nothing on this and simply wanted combo-gunners to get together and do all the hunting with one gun.

We could have expanded this a bit and done a hog, turkey/brace of quail, bass, and predator.

Well...it was a thought...
