My new singleshot Sauer & Sohn

Hello all.

Here is my (new to me) Sauer & Sohn singleshot rifle (or shotgun if I chance the barrel ;-) )
Rifle caliber is 6,5x52R which is allmost same as .25-35 Win. Shotgun pipe in 16/70. In the future I will propably sleeve this shotgun pipe to .30-30 Win.That´s why there is much easier to get cartridges to it than to 6,5x52R.

Igorrock,

Lovely old gun. Unusual choice of calibres though - would the 25-35 have been used by trappers originally?

This caliber (6,5x52R) has actually less pressure than .25-35 and, I think that´s why, it has been quite popular in older mid-european combination guns and guns which basics to shotgun action like mine. This caliber used be quite popular in Finnland after last war and specially used by people who hunt birds with barking dog. But nowadays is has allmost disappeared because it is nearly impossible to find fmj bullets to .25 caliber. :-(

I have a lot of new cartridges in 6,5x52R .It's not a problem to buy them in Austria.

You can buy these cartridges in Finland too but only made by Sellier & Bellot and with half jacket bullets.
