I did a search and didn't come up with anything on this so I thought I would post it. Has anyone seen this monster at Bass pro Shops? Specifically, does anyone know anything about it? My quick web search doesn't come up with anything other than an auction it was in in 2006.

Clayton builds some beautiful Farquharson's. He has built some bore guns that are TRULY monsters.

zimhunter,

Thanks for the reply. Do you know if he builds them using original actions or ones he makes himself?

He builds the complete action. Last time I was in his shop he had some 4 bore barrels he was going to build up I believe. That was a couple of years ago. He does beautiful work, both wood and metal on a par with anyone. Just one mans opinion and I suppose since he's a friend I'm biased.

Just looked at this gun this evening.
It IS massive! I mean really big.
Beautiful gun though.
Of those out there who have shot a 600NE, what weight is right?
This looks more akin to 8bore size and weight - surely a stopper though!

I had a 600 Thys at 13.5, after I had them add a Kilo. Jeffery was 14.5. I think 14-16 would be about right.

Looks very nice. However, even though it would cost a lot to reproduce that rifle, I am not convinced that the market will bear $30K for a single shot. Half of that, yes.

As for weight, I had a .600 NE that weighed in a 14.75 pounds. It was still like being in a car accident every time I pulled the trigger. But carrying it from the car to the bench at the shooting range almost gave me a heart attack, so I don't know what the solution is.

Years ago (1970's), Les Bauska, barrel maker from Kalispel Montana, used to make up .600 Nitro's on an enlarged Ruger #1 action someone was casting up for him. Perhaps the 'moulds' are still available?
