Can anyone recommend a DR conversion gunsmith?
      #105537 - 19/05/08 06:32 AM

I am new to this forum and love the threads! I am ready for a double rifle build but lack the skill and knowledge. Does anyone know of a gunsmith who does double rifle conversions in true Nitro Express cartridges (470NE, 500NE, 450NE, 465NE, etc.). I have only seen one person on "You Tube" Jim White of J. White Gunsmithing in Maine who does conversions. Is he any good? Really would appreciate any help! Thanks.

No, but you can give him a call and let him know what you have in mind.I have always found him reasonable.

It is a 45/90 on a Francotte with a Greener crossbolt. He has the liners ready and I need to get some 45/90 cases ordered. I am looking for some loads with a 400 grain bullet that will not have too much pressure. Daryl recomended that I start with 45/70 loads and go up. The only loading manual I have that shows pressure is the Lee Manual. There is a 28000psi load that develpos 1926 fps with a 400 grain. I would like to have more horse power than that but have not found pressure specs. When Richard Stallcup get the gun regulated, a new pad put on and the checkering recut on the fore end I will post pictures. If any of you guys are thinking about this, he would be a good man to talk to...reasonable prices also.
