Thanks for the comments! I don't know whats happened to me but recently I woke up and decided that hammer drilling were the way to go for me. ;-)

All kidding aside, I used the Sauer this year in South Dakota for pheasant using Gamebore #6 , 2.5". Excellent field gun. Very tight and was as most are, a vet bringback that I acquired with 2 others a few years ago. It has seen some use but not too much and is right now, my favorite of the bunch with the exception of the 11.15x65r rifle. I wish I had the time to research the caliber more (another post below provided great information) and reproduce it. Right now, I just dont have the cycles. Improved Cylinder / Modified.

The other drilling, Miller and Val Greiss, I recently acquired. It is in just about 90% condition with minor, minor wear in the normal areas. It is in 9.3 and of course 16x16 2.5". This is a real jem and I need to post more pics. Improved cylinder and modified so a great bird gun with a readily attainable rifle. May be my Dakota gun next year for that occasionally seen coyote. Buttplate lifts for 2 rifle cartridges and 1 shotgun. Will take more pics later.

I just added another favorite, a sidelock Sauer Daly Drilling. I have used this selectively in the field for a number of years. It's 12 2 3/4 chamber in IMP CYL and MOD make it a great bird gun, yes, it's a "little" heavy but heck...well you know.

Both beautiful guns, but the hammer drilling is the Marilyn Monroe to the Sauer's Angie Dickinson. You are one lucky devil, sir, to have both!

I have the same exact drilling myself. If anyone has information as regards that rifle chambering, I'm all ears. I've also seen it listed as a "GECADO" loading.

Right now I'm close, but concerned what I've cobbled together will be too hot.

I've determined the bore is .439-.440 by pounding various sized round ball down the bore. It has odd numbered henry style rifling so just measuring the resulting slugs was useless as if you measure the resulting slug from pounding a .440 ball down the barrel you get a .433 land to groove measurement. Pushing a .433 ball down the bore just barrel marks the slug with a hint of the rifling.

Anyhow, I didn't do a casting, but tried various sized brass after making chamber measurements and right now I'm using 400NE brass cut down to 65mm, fire-formed with a .440 round ball over around 80+ grains of compressed Goex CTG. Someone that looked at the proofmarks on my gun said it wasn't proofed for smokeless. The current loading I've not fired yet is a 43 Spanish bullet, .439 dia at 370 grains, over a charge of 80 grains Goex CTG. I determined this load buy seating the bullet until I had 1/8 inch compression of the powder charge (which was dropped via a 24 inch drop tube).

I've not fired the loads yet and I'm worried that I may have too heavy of a bullet in this load. I may actually cut the noses off the bullets to lighten them and then work up to full weight to be on the safe side.

As I was told "NICHT FOR KUGEL" literally means "Not for sphere" so I would take that to imply no slugs for the shotgun barrels.

Hey, thanks for the above post. Glad you are trying to load for yours. I have not had mine for about 8 months as it is at my gunsmiths getting a set of new springs.

Per the load, Steve Meyer, read awesome guy, of the GGCA emailed me with the following data:

-The 11,15x65R (also noted as 11,15x65,4R) cartridge is an elongated version of the German military 11,15x60R (.43) Mauser round. The .43 Mauser spawned dozens of sporting cartridges of various calibers and lengths and the 65mm version was fairly popular.

-The 62/78 indicates the gauge of the rifle barrel and is usually all that's seen to give any clue as to the chambering - having the explicit "patr(one)" (cartridge) mark is rare. Still, a chamber cast wouldn't hurt. 62.78 gauge translates into .420", which would be the largest diameter rod, in .010" increments, that would fit in the bore. Groove diameter of your rifle barrel will probably be somewhere between .440-.448"

-It was loaded with black powder (SP = schwartze pulver) and the bullet weight was 17,7 grams (about 273 grains) and plain lead (BL = Blei, or lead).

I wouldn't say it is an elongated version of the 43 mauser as it is a straight wall case. Hence using 400 nitro express brass.

Unfortunately, load development for it came to a screeching halt as I determined it was off the face. So until I spend a chunk of money to fix, it's on the back burner for now.

All put together it felt tight, but upon firing it showed the primers had backed out of the case head (As in excessive headspace, not high pressure) and when I pulled the forearm, held the gun upside down and shook it side to side it was then obvious.

So, in the mean time until I get it fixed, I'm learning to cast bullets and working on other black powder cartridge arms so when I get back to working on it, I'll be at the top of my game for dealing with odd black powder cartridges.
