Can some one tell something for P. Orr & Sons and its guns?

My friend is selling an old Belgian made shotgun. He says it is retailed by P. Orr & Sons and it is in P. Orrs guncase, but Iīm not sure is the case original. The gun is almost like new, but case is in poor condition.
Is there any way to find out is this gun originally retailed by P. Orr?
Fine gun and the price insīt bad either, but it would be nice to know itīs history.

7mmSAKO,

Thanks for bringing back some fantastic memories. P Orr and Sons of Madras and Rangoon was an old retailer of guns and luxury goods that still exists in Madras, India, though I am not sure if they have any of the old records. As a boy, this is where I gained my love for guns - looking through their cabinets while the amused salesmen would watch me and talk to me when they were free. The shop was just across the road from my father's clinic at the old Maharaja of Travancore's property which was demolished many years ago and which is now a property owned by the Life Insurance Corporation of India.

They stopped selling guns in the late 1970s in India and probably ceased their operations in Rangoon earlier. MAdras was renamed Chennai and these days the company sells cheap watches on the ground floor while the higher floors have a sweatshop making clothing for export.

I hope you find time to post pictures of your gun here. It would be something that many here appreciate.

Best wishes and good hunting!

P.Orr & Sons Madras was of similar standing to Mantons of Calcutta until the 1950s.

invalid link snipped

Okay, it is original P. Orr. There is text "P. Orr & Sons, London & Rangoon" engraved on the barrels.
Buttplate is awful, but I will change it.

Maker of this gun is Braekers (Charles & Cie?) - Belgium.
Can some one say something about this maker?
