Thanks
I fid them OK, we go by the year of manufacture and depending on when it was made depends on what I am prepared to pay for it.
But also, alot of rifles need work.
EG - I like Win Mod 70's but and the Super Express 458's were great - until you fed other ammo in it that didn't use the 510gn Winchester Bullet.
All it needed was a bit of work and it was done - you hear people complain about guns but not why it has a problem.
That's not to say he didn't get a lemon of a gun but.....

Did you buy it new or Second hand.
Re the stocks, it is not a lack of customer service if they don't provide an upgrade to a Laminate Stock.

$800 is about the going price for a new "off-the-rack" CZ 550 American Safari Magnum in 375 H&H, 416 Rigby or 458 Lott. My guess it's not a "Safari Classic" even though it may say so on the barrel. Those come only in classic calibers (300 H&H, 404 Jeffery, etc.) and typically cost $2100 plus.

the czech magnum (.416 Rigby) is more rugged than the Ruger Magnum, but you would have to restock it, because the original stock is only a joke (but that would also be a good hint to do with the rugers) and put a 3-pos-safety (made by gentry) on it to own a really practically safari-rifle....
