Whitworth Express prices going up?
      #55567 - 24/04/06 02:28 AM

With the apparant demise of Winchester, and the Model 70 rifles becoming harder, and harder to get, do you feel that the prices of Whitworth Express Rifles will be going up? I've always felt that the Whitworths have always been under priced vs. the quality they deliver.

Even the MK X heavy calibers are going up sharply. They are an excellent value, also.

I think you might find the days of really "cheap" or cheaper guns
that 10 years ago is over with the price of metals going up so much over the last few years.

In fact, I think everything will go up 10 - 20% if made of metal, is heavy or
Dangerous Goods (ammo, Powder) due to the freight costs and surcharges
nowadays.

The Whitworth and MK X are FN action copies. I presently have an FN action Sako 375 and a MK X 375...had several Whitworths back when they were still marketed, and there is only a bit of difference, and it is in the quality of machining and finish work. The CZ 550 American I have in 416 Rigby and my former CZ 550 Safari are somewhat different from the Interarms guns and FN-Sako,

There is a difference in "feel", however. Blindfolded and wearing heavy gloves, I could pick out the FN-Sako with no problem. It is that much smoother and more "solid" feeling than the others. I never felt slighted owning any of these rifles, and would use any of them to hunt buffalo.
