Browning VS Winchester 375 H&H
      #42775 - 02/12/05 01:41 PM

My hunting plans include Oregon, Washington, Alaska and someday Africa. I have an opportunity to buy a Winchester M-70 Classic Express 375 H&H new for $900. I also can pick up a used but "like new" Browning Stainless Stalker, BOSS 375 H&H with Leupold rings and bases for $650.
Comments please.

My 375 is made by SAKO. I have heard alot of good reports about the model 70.

Stay away from the Boss system and the Browning action.

Find one of the Browning Safaris
made in the 70s' and back. If you
want to stay with the Browning.

I'm not Mickey, but I can give you the reasons I agree with him!

The Borwning action is problematic, and is also a push feed action, and the BOSS is a sales gimmic and a useless extention on a barrel chambered for a cartridge like the 375 H&H. IMO.

If you want a rifle with Browning stamped on it, go back to the ones made on a FN Mauser action. IMO, that was the last bolt action made by browning, worth owning!

Beware of "saltwood" FNs, however. The FN Browning was the last decent rifle they made, IMHO. The Winjammer Safari Classic is worthless...
