I finished going over my 1908 Mannlicher and I thought that would post some pics. My CH4D dies came in the mail today. I will load up some rounds this weekend and hopefully get her to the range sometime soon. I expect that my 1910 should be arriving within the next several days. image

Very nice 08. Did you get lucky and the rear sight came with it?

Casper: Check this thread. The clever Mr Miller fabricated it himself! Marvelous stuff!
...and thanks for the photo spread above fjrdoc, beautiful work.

Thanks for the compliment Marrakai. I wish that I could stumble upon another of the Marbles WBS20 sights. I like how compact it is plus still having windage and elevation adjustments.

I have the rear sight. I removed it and put it away for safe keeping. I have a hard time seeing the factory sights. Peeps are much easier for me.

I know the feeling. Some I can use and some I can't. That's the reason I like peeps also. And after 23 years in the Marines it's what I am use to.

8x56MS is the only cartridge they were made in.

What's the length of the barrel? It looks shorter than mine.
When was this one made? A 1908 model, made in 1908 or later?
Your new rifle looks fine.
What's your plan with it. What shooting or hunting?

Perhaps it had just been swimming?

Shrinkage!! Barrel lengths on my MS are all over the place. The 1908 in 8x56 MS is 19.5 inches. My 1905 is 17.5 inches and my 1903 is 22.5 inches. I'll be taking her to the range to work up a nice accurate load for deer hunting. I really would like to do some boar hunting in the future. Not so much for trophy but more for eating purposes.
