Hey Gang,
Finally shot my .470 with full factory loads - been shooting reduced loads and light cast bullets. I have to admit, I was a little fearfull. To my great suprise, it was not that bad. My marksmanship stunk as I was shaking like a excited schoolgirl. Nothing quite like being in command of a rifle exceeding 5000 ft/lbs of muzzle energy.

My experience with my 470 for the first time was the same. Shaking and nervous, but it wasn't to bad. I fired 4 rounds, to my surprise I hit the target all four times. No grouping mind you, but I hit the target just the same.

That is sooo funny. I acually hit the target four times also. A couple in the "kill" zone. I watched this dude shoot his .470 for the first time and he hit the dirt about 10 yard in front of the target - major flinch.

What was funny, was that I was at a 25 yard indoor range. When they were told what I was going to shoot they all came over to see. I actually had to look at the cieling hieght and make sure I wouldn't hit the cieling when the gun recoiled. As far as where I hit the paper. If it was a dangerous charging animal I wold have had four kill shots, if I needed another he would have had me.

The first time I shot the 470 barrel in my old rigby cape gun I gave myself a noose bleed. I guess it was a bit short and my noose was to close to my hand.
I sold it after that, to pay for collage, I think that tramatic experience left me with the idea that a 450-400 was about my max.
