I just found this on the 'net. Photobucket has 'fuzzed' the images (why I use this picr.de instead), but a neat account of a Canadian lad taking a bear with his Grandfather's M1910.
Why he had it loaded with 220 grain projectiles is beyond me, 270 grain RN is standard.

Funny pictures are fine on my computer so I went to look on my phone & screen shot them but on my phone they are fuzzed so I took photo of screen !
Bit rough but best I could get for now !

The 220gr. FN Hornady is a great game bullet when driven around or slower than 2,400fps. It was also very accurate.
It's been a long time since we've been able to get 270gr. RN Hornadys or any softer 270gr. .375" bullets here in BC, so
I'm not surprised the lad used the 220gr.
Nice young chocolate griz.

Isn't that a Black Bear Daryl, Brown/Chocolate colour phase ?
I have a few boxes of the Hornady .270gr but still no Model 1910 yet, I have three .375 2 1/2in Ex, one Lee Speed will not shoot them & I have to use Woodies, the WR Steyr likes them but kicks like a Mule & I think it is starting to split the stock !

Yes, that is a black bear.. with a not so large head... IMHO...

I thought a black bear, too, but had suspicion he was a grizzly bear, so I enlarged the picture of his claws on the rifle stock. Those do not look like normal hooked & curved black bear claws to me. Yes, he has a sleeker forehead, but it is a young bear & with a small hump, not common with black bears of any size. I'm not convinced it is a black bear.

Perhaps, but in my opinion the head does not have the shape of a griz, the hump comes from the log that is under its center and claws are no where near that of a griz..at least the one we killed 2 months ago in Russia.. but, that's just my perspective...
