I am considering a plains game safari in a few years and would like to use my M-S in 30-06. All of the PH'S that I have spoken to have recommended Barnes bullets or other premium bullets. Would there be any issues in using the Barnes solid copper bullets or should I stick with Nosler Partitions and other more conventional bullets.

As far as momo-bullets, I feel that Barnes set the bar - about at the top and others may or may not be as good = the bar is set.
For an '06 - for plains game, of course, I think the 165gr. TTSX would be the ones I'd use - around the 2,900fps. They work splendidly for moose and elk here, right to the far side of 400yards - if you have the skill. Trajectory over there, should be of NO concern. I would use Partitions only if I could not get Barnes TSX or TTSX and that would probably mean 180's.
Never been to Africa - probably never go, I haven't hunted all NA has to offer - yet- thus, my opinion on what I would use.

Thanks Daryl. All of them recommended 180 grain loads due to the size of some of the larger antelope. I just wanted to know if the solid copper bullets caused any issues in older rifles.
