Hello and a happy new year 2014.
I have an old M88 sporting rifle, probably made by Schilling / Suhl, caliber 8x57J.
At this rifle are two types of mounts.
1. a Mannlicher-type Suhler claw mount – not really nice.
and
2. an old type of side- mount, which I have never seen before.
I think, because of the engraving of the side-mount, it will be the original mount. So I will prefer this mount for a scope.
I found a long time ago some pictures of a similar rifle with mounts and a scope.

Perhaps, is here anybody, who knows where to get such mountings parts?
Regards

thats looking realy different the parts you looking for can be made, no doubt. but without the original parts in the hand for taking measurments and study it inside it will be only close to the original. if this is the right thing for you? must have been a gunmaker special from Suihl/Zella Mehlis before the first war. do you think the claw mount was made post WW 2 because the orignal scope was lost? anyway, its a nice chance to fit two different scopes to this rifle.
would be nice if you could make more pics

Beautiful. Have regretted ever since I sold me. Of all repeating rifles the M88 jagdbüchsen is one I would buy again. Classic rifle in the original 8x57.
