458 action

Can a 458 action be used on a 338 barrel to change calibers?If not what could be built on a 458 action without to much trouble just a rebarrel job?What actions are the 404 & 416taylor built on?Also can the 416remington action convert to a 8mm remington magnum with a rebarrel?What can the 416 remington action be converted towith out a lot of trouble?

It's pretty to convert a 458 to a 338 or visa versa...you could also convert to a 375 H&H or 416 Rem easy enough..You can, in fact, go about any route you wish without a lot of trouble...I'd steer clear of wildcats as they sure do hurt the resale value of any gun and today there is little need for any wildcat.

.404 should be built on a RUM action but a sharp smith can make one from a .458 Mag action but it's a lot of work.
