Finally got to see the new rifle today.

Hey Everyone,
I got the new rifle today, a CZ 550 in .375 H&H. The stock is fantastic, lots of figure and it points very naturally. The bolt is a little rough but I was expecting that from other posts. I'll get some fine compound and work on it. Since the weather sucked today I haven't fired it yet, but after I get off work on Monday I'll take it hunting in the club. Maybe the dogs will kick up a pig.

ANTICIPATION!

Mind if I ask which stock you got? I can't decide between the newer american stock and the older hog back. I'll be ordering my CZ .375 in the next week or so.

Thanks

I went with the older style stock because I really enjoy the way it looks. Kinda old fashioned. I shot it 5 times the other day and it really shoots well, less recoil than I expected. In fact my 130lb. 17 year old daughter shot it twice and she didn't complain either. She shot a bullseye from 30 yards with open sights on her SECOND shot, so she's not flinching from it at all.

Now I will warn you regarding some problems I've noticed. 1) The action is a little rough and does need some smoothing out. 2) The spring in the mag well seems weak to me, but it feeds fine so maybe it's not a problem. 3) The follower in the mag. is made of metal and the rounds will make a fair amount of noise when the rifle is moved around much. This might be fixed by stregthening the spring as well.

The 602 Brno had the same problem.
With any more than 3 rounds in the mag and the bolt closed, one round is free to move back and forward in the mag, as it is not being supported properly by the other rounds.
It will belt the absolute crap out of softpoint bullets during recoil.
The problem is caused by a combination of an incorrect follower top profile and a magazine box which is too wide for the diameter of the 375 and 458 cartridge case.
